WeddingWire sucks for Vendors

This is a repost from the Pissed Consumer at http://weddingwire.pissedconsumer.com/weddingwire-sucks-for-vendors-20110627245609.html . I am reposting this get those businesses that were harmed by the WeddingWire to vent here. The more we vent the faster WeddingWire will get the idea that they are a hateful toward bridal vendors and a scurge to the internet.

WeddingWire sucks for Vendors Weddingwire Complaint by Dumbledoor

When I first saw Weddingwire, I thought the site was really good. Lots of diverse vendors and seemingly lots of diverse customers, so I signed up. I went for the 80 a month package, thinking if I don't like it I'll cancel it. So a week goes by, nothing happens. A month goes by, nothing happens, so I start to look around. Signed up for a free account on WeDJ and got lots of leads instantly. After that, I decided to cancel Weddingwire". I send the generic email a request to cancel my account, but WAIT, I CAN'T DO THAT:. Apparently I signed up for a annual contract, where NOWHERE does it say that when I signed up, so now they want almost a grand from me'. The rep kept trying to tell me that maybe it's me, in that I should get more reviews and change my logo to get more attention? As some would say NO SHE DIDN'T'.

The site is geared towards vendors that have been there for ages and pay the biggest annual rates|. They highlight those vendors and throw the other ones to the 15th page, even if the paying ones are in a different state! I did a search on my own listing for the city that I lived in,. My payment guaranteed I'd be on the first page, but NO I was on the 11th page, with people in 2 states away on closer pages,. In conclusion, if you're a wedding vendor WEDDINGWIRE IS A RIPOFF.. If you're getting married, you'll find much better vendors on other sites like WeDJ, Decidio, and even Craigslist. f4441f

I had the same problem with Wedding Wire, I had my profile removed but they will not remove the reviews, plus know I can not even defend my company by replying to negative feed back. Many customers use this site to force their vendors to do what they want. Period! You give me a refund or !!!! They do not care about company policy they get away with murder. Wedding Wire should be sued to review all there reviews....I advise all wedding businesses to stay clear from them...if you have account with them cancel it is hurting your business overall.

Weddingwire hurt my business by refusing to remove a defamatory review from my profile. I have lost business this year and weddingwire is to blame!

DO NOT open a vendor profile on weddingwire.com because they will NOT remove the profile even after you delete your profile.

It's almost like they want you to look bad!!

I feel it's because I am not a paying vendor!

  1. i am so mad at wedding wire! The same vent as the first one, with the 'contract,' trying to make it seem like it is in my best interest to stick with them for a whole year. I have had ONE SINGLE LEAD from them ever since i signed up. The customer representative was helpful, but now she just says the same stuff to me whenever I need to cancel it. I cannot afford this anymore, I am losing so much money. I see a lot of people complainging about negative reviews, well, you can't even get reviews from other clients outside of wedding wire on there unless you want to pester your past clients by asking them to write you another review on that site. I don't think so!

  2. Someone just pointed out a review for my photography services on WeddingWire.com. It was a positive review except for the fact that I have never shot a wedding in the city mentioned nor do I ever intend to. Long story short, WeddingWire.com claims Fair Use copyrights to use my name even in a false manner. I got tired of dealing with the WeddingWire turd sticks and filed a complaint with the Maryland Attorney General and the BBB.

  3. I have the same problem that a lot of vendors in weddingwire. I didn't know was annual contract and NO leads so far... What happens if if I just stop paying for the annual membership? Can I get in trouble?

  4. Wedding wire is a self appointed non authority on weddings. They give a place to emotional brides to vent on their vendors who did a good job but are mad because now they are in debt. Hey bride, you can't afford it so don't complain when you go into debt to impress your cousins boyfriend that you never wanted at your wedding in the first place.

Wedding wire hard sells vendors to buy useless advertising. They suck bigtime.

  5. Wedding Wire seems to be a good product for those who are willing to invest 100s of hours setting up their profile. The issue comes in with defamatory reviews, their ancient system of uploading and tagging, their SEO apparently take 6 months to populate, and their terms of cancellation. Simply put, Wedding Wire works so long as you pay your monthly fees, and so long as you use their system religiously.

It literally strives off of competition between vendors and who can fight harder to get up in the featured ads.

Vendors: Save your money, learn about SEO, and network within your demographic
Brides: There are tonnes of good wedding shows, referrals, and local businesses that can work with you.

    Good luck,
    One dis-satisfied wedding wire client

  6. all of your stories are the same... this sight uses predatory sales tactics to get you locked into a contract that they themselves breach on a daily basis. Promises they can not keep! I am going to serve them with a class action law suit and get every last penny back including yours if you want it. My husband is an attorney and so I my father. They have already been reviewed by a legal team and investigations have begun. contact me here if you want to participate.

    1. Hi, I'd be interested in joining your class action lawsuit as well. I signed up to WW in September and have booked no weddings. When initially purchasing their "service" I explained that I was currently pregnant, and moving to a new area and wanted to wait until after I had my child to put together my page. The person I spoke to convinced me to sign up early because I would absolutely be able book at least one wedding for the months up until I deliver. As I stated, that has not been the case and infact I have had to pick up part time work to pay my WW bill. I have an appointment to speak with someone today regarding getting more out of my site, but I am not confident I will still not see a return on my investment. I feel like the service I was sold is not the one I ended up receiving.

    2. Paying $128/month. I am a small business and can not afford to continue losing money. I have been with them for 4 months now and I have not had one lead. I want to cancel but they say I am binded by a one year contract! Was any legal action ever taken?

  7. Count me in! Where do we sign up?

  8. I have been with WW for 6 months and a bunch of phony leads later I sent them a notice of intent to cancel. I wasted over $600 dollars on this lame company. They are not getting another dime from me.

  9. How can I cancel my account? I haven't gotten any bookings from them what the heck?

  10. Same thing. We have 2 accounts there. One is working somehow, but another didn't have any lead in a 6 months. Is that any experience here how people cancelled that subscription?

  11. I have lost close to 30% of my business this year from one bad review :( I am devastated. It literally is brought up all the time by new couples even though the rest of my reviews are glowing. Has anyone figured out a way to get their account removed? Has anyone sued them and won?

  13. How can I get out of my so called one sided contract with WW? I pay but no clients even after I lowered my prices, still no brides. This isn't what I thought it would be.

  14. I signed up for Wedding Wire with the intention of using their free services. After so, I got bombarded with calls at work and emails asking to schedule a "Welcome Call" so they can "Verify" my account. I had no intention of buying a paid membership when I scheduled the call, but the lady sold it very well - seemingly with interest in helping my small start-up business - with her terms on leads, page traffic, and revenue. I agreed to the lowest available package and she pushed me to pay for it through the phone by informing me that the "15% Off Discount" she got from "her boss" who apparently was close enough to hear the whole conversation was only available at that time. That was my first mistake.

Second mistake was not looking into their services deeper prior to the call and being sucked into their sales pitch. If you look pass all the paid Ads that they have of themselves and several other pages from their own website, you'll see the reality of it all - all the people who they have wronged through their services, all those who have lost their money to empty promises.

Third mistake, After the call and payment of the initial first month due, I was surprise to receive an email that indicates "fixed initial term of 1 year" which I did not remember her mentioning. She repeated the 12 month payments but I did not remember agreeing to paying for a closed 12 months. But she insist that we discussed it. I agreed to paying month to month and maybe canceling if I don't like it, that's what I understood.

Fourth mistake, after searching everywhere for a way out I realized that I have been victimized by them as others have been. Countless complaints from people who have more expensive membership packages than I do complaining about their empty promises, lack of follow through, and zero customer results. Wedding Wire is fake reviews, fake leads, no assurance, 1 year contract trap - not at all small business friendly. After so, 2-3 Hours after talking to my "representative", I sent her an emailing with the intention to cancel my membership. Not a days, a week, a month, or months after... only 2-3 hours after I paid.

Ok, maybe if you are a big business, with money to spend to be on the first two pages, heck maybe even the first 3 options - then ok maybe this website is for you. But for a small business trying to build a potfolio, you are wasting your money on them.

After endless emails, between the representative and her supposed manager - them just repeatedly telling me that there was no way out of the contract despite the fact the I asked to get canceled only 2-3 hours after I paid for it. Still trying to sell the service and acting as if they care about the state of your business and have only the best intentions for the terms that they go buy. I gave up on them, they are just leeches trying their best to sell their services.

I am hoping to find a way out of this mess without ruining my credit, losing all the money, or possibly getting sued. I don't want anymore sales tactic or automated response from Wedding Wire. Just refund me and cancel my membership.

    Please Help

    1. Hi! Most state laws say you have 3 days after you sign any contract to change your mind. This includes buying houses and cars, so it should certainly apply to a Wedding Wire subscription. Write to your state Attorney General's office to say that they would not refund your money even though you changed your mind 3 hours after signing. Hopefully you have an email to prove that you made this decision within the 3-day window.
